Less than a century ago the world looked exciting, but now that vision is old hat - or is almost lost to view. Some excerpts from the volume 'Marvels of the Modern World' from some date prior to 1939 (i.e. no longer copyright) may help supply the deficiency. The volume has fascinated me, more so than most of the vastly superior and more efficient and safe new technical stuff that is appearing all the time.
