Shaun Mather obtained the following information from Nevin Davies, who is the retired farmer of Three Lanes End Farm - which his son now runs:-

The Wisborough Lodge School closed down in 1955, or possibly 1956. It was run by a Mr McDonald, the headmaster. Apparently he was an alcoholic. When the school closed down, McDonald and his wife started a smallholding, moved into one of the old chicken houses, and rented out the house. After some time, the Glebe fields came up, and they rented them and had more sheep. Eventually, this venture went bust, in the mid 1960s. Nevin Davies took over the the Glebe fields and the playing fields. The grounds were split up, a builder called Bulchin bought some land, and Eric Clarke bought some too to have a yard for his road and drive business.

Nevin (who is some character himself) remembers the Nawab of Patawdi (called 'Tiger') who's guardian was McDonald. When Tiger was about 16, he asked Nevin if he could shoot on Nevin's land. Nevin would not normally trust a young man, but but learning that he had shot tigers and owned a pair of Purdeys (worth about £2000 then), Nevin agreed. Indeed, they both went to the annual funfair that traditionally visits the village each 20th September and in the shooting booths won a large number of china ornaments or toys. They took them back to the farm and set up their own range to shoot these ornaments to bits. Apparently Tiger was a very god shot. Tiger also beceme involved with cricket at Wisborough Green. We was put with the second team, and then proceeded to produce the quickest 73 runs the club had ever seen. The lodge remains as a building, but is now split up into dwellings. I hope this information is of interest to you. Best regards, editor@wisboroughgreen.org
